After installin Vista Beta 2 my display blinks off and on every few seconds, quite erratcially, sometimes a few seconds will pass and sometimes rapid blinking with quick intervals. I have downloaded and installed new Vista drivers for my GeFore 6600, but that has not corrected the problem. The Vista installation went smoothly and has not warned me of any driver issues. All of my hardware other than my display/video card semm to be working properely.

display is unstable and blinks off and on erratically
Try booting into safe mode to see if the monitor flickers(press F8 during start up). If the monitor is still flickering in safe mode then you may have a corrupt Vista driver installation because safe mode loads only Windows basic drivers. If it isn't flickering then you may have to uninstall the Nvidia drivers and use the Windows drivers until there is a driver update from Nvidia. -- If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished!

Have you installed the 88.61 drivers for Vista Beta 2 from the NVIDIA Website?

Yes, I downloaded and installed new 88.61 drivers but the problem persists. Uninstalling the drivers and running in VGA mode solves the problem but then a host of other issues result from this remedy. The microsoft default drivers are no better than the new Vista drivers from Nvidia.

Thanks for your response but that was my first thought as well and yes it does correct the unstable display but then in VGA mode one is limited to minimal video funtions. All drivers after being installed cause the same problem in Vista, including the default microsoft drivers. I have no difficulty with card or drivers in XP Pro so I know it is not hardware related. Perhaps Microsoft or Nvidia can figure it out.

Are you trying to run Aero Glass? If yes how much memory do you have on the 6600 card and what is its memory type (DDR,DDR2) and speed?
